Request for identification

The cottony structure took almost 15 days to appear and I never saw a fully open flower


Date/Time- Sep ,Oct 2011


Location- Place, Altitude, GPS-Pune


Habitat- Garden/ Urban/ Wild/ Type-Wild


Plant Habit- Tree/ Shrub/ Climber/ Herb- Herb


Height/Length- about 4-5 cms


Leaves Type/ Shape/ Size-green


Flowers Size/ Colour/ Calyx/ Bracts- light purple buds


Fruits Type/ Shape/ Size Seeds- ?cottony fruit

It may be a Blumea species, not sure though.

Many thanks Vijayasankar ji for a possible Id.
I have searched a lot on the net for the Id but found nothing.
I have come across a similar plant and I am posting it for Id in a different thread. This time I could get a better view of the flower . The fruit has not yet developed.

It looks like (a young plant of) Blumea axillaris (Lam.) DC. as per images, details and references herein.
