Subject: PASSIFLORA QUADRANGULARIS

Dear Friend,
I saw Passiflora Quadragularis ( Giant Granadilla ),for the first time at Forest Research Institute,Dehradun in 1987.Next I saw the plant at Tezpur in 2001.According to NL Bor and B M Raizada this plant is a native of tropical America. It bears large fruits. These are eaten as a vegetable.I have seen it being sold at Tezpur market.I tried the vegetable. It has got a mild flavour of Passion flower.I collected a sapling from Tezpur. That climber is bearing flowers/fruits.Attaching images of flower and fruit of the plant.
Regards
