According to Turland and Jarvis, Desmodium triquetrum is the accepted name.

By the way,
Desmodium is derived from the Greek desmos (band or chain) and refers
to the jointed seed pods
triquetrum means three cornered.

Although it ultimately leads to the same triangular shape, strictly speaking:

Trigonous: three-cornered or thee-angled

Triquetrous: three-sided
