Dear friends,

Sending photos of Talimkhana.  The plant grows in marsh land.  This is the food plant of caterpillars of Pansies and Grass blue butterflies.

If I am not wrong Asteracantha longifolia is known as Talmakhana

Yes Tanay, you are right
Asteracantha longifolia Nees (syn: A. spinosa T. Anders.)

In addition to Talimkhana in Hindi and Mar., the plant is also known as Kokilaksha (Sans.), Kullakhara (Beng.), Neerugubbi (Tel) and Nirmulli (Tam.).

It is Hygrophila schulli  (Buch.-Ham.) M. R. & S. M. Almeida  (Acanthaceae)
It is very common in marshy areas

A.longifolia have many medicinal properties the tribals people of jharkhand uses this plant decoction
