Dear Friends,

Breynia retusa from Sagargad near Alibag, Maharashtra.
Date/Time: 11-07-2010 / 09:40AM
Previously it was stated to be in Euphorbiaceae but presently Breynia belongs to the family Phyllanthaceae.

Beautiful photographs.
The last photograph[itp-PS1-jpg shows fruits,yellow male and green female flower.Am I right?

Yes Dr. Usha the yellow ones are the male flowers, axilliary on filiform pedicles, the males in the lower and females greenish,  in the upper axils.  the globose redish fruit is seen with  the persistent calyx of  the female flowers !

'Breynia retusa' is called 'Kangalli' 'कांगळी' in Marathi.
