Bracts are pubescent/foliaceous and not subulate hence this is J.

Dear all,
For J.multiflorum the calyx-lobes are 5 only.
For J.malabaricum the leaf apex should be acuminate; corolla lobes twisted towards left. The ratio of leaf and flower (across-width) seems to go with J. malabaricum.
Could this be any other species of Jasminum? please validate.

I have collected J. malabaricum from Sanjay Gandhi National Park,
Mumbai. i never found the ovate-lanceolate leafy bracts of the
inflorecence. also check the pic at
http://www.flowersofindia.net/catalog/slides/Malabar%20Jasmine.html
Does not looks like J. multiflorum either.

This is nothing but Jasminum rottlerianum (= J. pubescens). There were a lot of confusion regarding the identity of this plant earlier.

Doesn't look like J. malabaricum,, pls check J. angustifolia..

Dear All,
The plant in question is Jasminum rottlerianum Wall. ex A.DC. Not J. pubescens Willd.
Jasminum pubescens is currently known as J. multiflorum (Burm,.f.) Andrews, is a cultivated species in home gardens. Whereas J. rottlerianum is a wild species with two varieties viz. Var. rottlerianum and var. glabrior C.B. Clarke. The latter variety is seen only in Kerala.
