An interesting character of the Genus Clematis is nicely seen in the pictures posted.
The fruit of Clematis is called as an Achene.
The important character of Clematis is the fruit has a persistent style which is feathery and helps the dispersal of seeds by wind. You can search earlier pictures of different species of Clematis posted on the group some of them show this.
We know of persistent calyx in Brinjal Tomato etc. This is persistent style.
I would like to know from the botanists whether any other genus shows this character?(Must be quite a many)
