Pseuderanthemum carruthersii (Seem.) Guillaumin, Ann. Mus. Colon. Marseille ser. 6, 4-6-48, 1948

syn:  Eranthemum atropurpureum W. Bull; Eranthemum carruthersii Seem. (basionym);  Pseuderanthemum carruthersii var. atropurpureum (W. Bull) 
          Fosberg; Pseuderanthemum atropurpureum (W. Bull) Radlk.


Evergreen shrub with ovate or elliptic up to 15 cm long leaves, often purple beneath, flowers in loose spikes, corolla  5-lobed with purple spots; tube about 12 mm long. Photographed from Janak Puri in New Delhi.


Common names: false eranthemum, Jacob's-coat, purple false eranthemum
