This small tree with bright orange coloured fruits  was  photograhed in Pune, in March 2011.
I couldn't locate any flowers on the tree but only these fruits.

 
Habit- Small tree

Height- about 8-9 Feet.

Habitat- Planted

Location- FC road, Pune (on the bylane) .

Date- 15th march 2011.

Doesn't it look like a Cordia?

... oh yes, could be looks like Cordia ... certainly, no longer looking like Flacourtia :)

Cordia gharaf, Gondan in Marathi. Fruits contain 'gond' a sticky
substance earlier used by piercing the fruit as a capsule of gum.

I guess Cordia sinensis Lamk. is a correct name for C. gharaf.

Yes, I agree with H S Ji that Cordia sinensis Lamk. of Boraginaceae family is the correct name and C. gharaf is now a synonym.

It certainly is  Cordia sinensis /Grey-leaved cordia.
I hope to capture it again next year with flowers and post it here.

loved seeing the bright ripe fruits...

it is called ગુંદી Gundi in gujarati,
my book on gujarat forest flora says it flowers in october-november...
may be the same timetable in puna?

hope that helps in keeping an eye on the tree...
