Acanthus spinosus L., Sp. Pl. 639 1753. (Acanthaceae)
syn: Acanthus spinosissimus Pers.; Acanthus spinulosus Host; Acanthus caroli-alexandri Hausskn.
Tall herbaceous plant differering from A. mollis in deeply pinnatifid leaves with spinose teeth, bracts and calyx teeth with spinose tips. Photographed from University of California Botanical Garden in June, 2008
