Artemisia japonica Thunb.,  Syst. Veg., ed. 14 (J. A. Murray). 744. 1784
Syn: Artemisia parviflora Roxb. ex D. Don; Oligosporus japonicus (Thunb.) Poljakov

Very distinct from other species of the genus by its smaller leaves which are wedge shaped, toothed at tip

Sparsely hairy plant or glabrous plant, up to 1 m tall; lower leaves wedge-shaped to flabellate, 3-7 cm long, lateral margins entire, tip broad, toothed or lobed; upper leaves smaller, narrower often deeply divided; heads nodding, ovoid or globose often in spreading panicles. Often used as medicinal plant.
