Very distinct from other species of the genus by its smaller leaves which are wedge shaped, toothed at tip
Sparsely hairy plant or glabrous plant, up to 1 m tall; lower leaves wedge-shaped to flabellate, 3-7 cm long, lateral margins entire, tip broad, toothed or lobed; upper leaves smaller, narrower often deeply divided; heads nodding, ovoid or globose often in spreading panicles. Often used as medicinal plant.
