My prediction has proved correct. We have already crossed second highest number on posts in a month:

October 2010: 3717

August 2011: 3354 ......and still counting

January 2011: 3344

Yes I noticed it in the morning...... Was thinking of waiting for one
more day to check if we could cross 4000 mark :). But I think its not
possible in one day now.

Well,
but why is it important to cross the 4000 mark ???
or not be a "low " activity group...???

I personally think we are quite active...
any more and there will not be any personal attention that Group
moderators give to individual query ..............

I know of members who get the daily updates and do not bother to look
thru.. or have stopped getting the update because they say its too
much already....

some have unsubscribed because of too much traffic... its up to
them...

need newer ideas...

With a group of plus 1700 members, it would be encouraging to see more members interacting rather than only a few of us. For this we have to make group more and more interesting for members to become active. We can do that only if have targets to go up. Pankaj ji, Balkar ji and others are always working towards that direction.

I think the most important thing is to enjoy ourselves & not setting any targets.

New heights should automatically be achieved while enjoying ourselves.

Higher numbers are achieved because of active participation of more & more members due to their increasing number.
Quality of discussions is equally important.

It has certainly gone up compared to the last year.

Just to show this- we now we have eFI website (started in Jan'11), which compiles all the posted data on eFi e-group.

Dear Garg ji:
I wholeheartedly agree...
more people that send in well thought out or really heartfelt inquiries... is what a group like this needs.... and the way it seems to me... govt is bot going to do FLora of India... like the other flora we so often refer to... so our aim is/should be perhaps to get quality info and quality pics... and keep some leeway for uncertainty and discussions... which would help in further discoveries.. finding mutations or even new species... which is getting more difficult since it seems most have been described... but for a country this large and varied..much must remain to be discovered..
