Big parties in Delhi have a new addition to fresh fruits for last few years. The fruit red in colour covered with thick long bracts, cut fruit has black seeds dispersed like Kiwi fruit (and is sometimes confused with it) but the pulp is white in colour and fruit about 8-12 cm long,  and belongs to a cactus Hylocereus undatus, commonly known as dragon fruit (in parties) but more popular common name as Red Pitaya. Other names being  Red Pitahaya, Night blooming Cereus, Strawberry Pear, Belle of the Night, Conderella Plant. Flowers of the plant are available at Flowers of India website

Here are the fruits from the party.
The plant is grown both as ornamental vine and the fruit crop.
