Thevetia peruviana   (बिट्टी)  in Marathi.
Another common Apocyanaceae plant
.Thevetia peruviana is native to Mexico and Central America.
All parts are poisonous. So commonly planted on compounds hedges; also as ornamental tree.

GARDEN :: Apocynaceae (dogbane, or oleander family) » Thevetia peruviana
Synonyms: Thevetia nerifolia, Cascabela thevetia, Cerbera peruviana


thev-VET-ee-uh -- named for Andre Thevet, 16th century French monk and plant collector
per-u-vee-AN-uh -- of or from Peru


commonly known as: be still tree, Peruvian yellow oleander, yellow oleander, lucky nut, luckynut • Hindi: पीली कनेर peeli kaner
The flowers have three colours: bright yellow, orange, and greenish white (this could be Thevetia peruviana 'Alba')
The common names accordingly will change in their adjectives of colour.


Native to: Central America


This plant, a small tree is planted along streets and avenues all over Thane and Mumbai.

Thevetia peruviana (Pers.) K.Schum. in Engl. & Prantl Nat.
Pflanzenfam. [Engler & Prantl] 4, Abt. 2: 159. 1895

Syn: Cerbera peruviana Pers.

Note: It contains a milky sap containing a compound called thevetin
that is used as a heart stimulant but in its natural form is extremely
poisonous, as are all parts of the plants, especially the seeds.
