Tall annual or biennial herb reaching 2.5 m; leaves orbicular, up to 25 cm long and as broad, usually 5-lobed; stipules lanceolate 5 mm long; petiole up to 25 cm long; flowers many, on almost invisible pedicels; epicalyx segments linear or linear-lanceolate, 3-6 mm long; calyx 5-6 mm long, enlarged in fruit; petals pinkish, 7-9 mm long, slightly notched; fruit enclosed in calyx, 5-7 mm across, mericarps 10-12, glabrous.
