Hi friends, Attaching pics of a spiney shrub for Id. It had long spines and beautiful small white flowers.

Habit- Shrub

Habitat- Wild

Flowers- White , the petal in centre had purple spots on it and yellow at the end.

Location- Mahabaleshwar ( on a hill).

Date - 26 th Jan 2011.

... would this be Lepidagathis cuspidata, the spiny lepidagathis, in Marathi काटे अडुळसा kate adulsa ?

I too think that this is Lepidagathis cuspidata of Acanthaceae family.

It seems that this species shows lots of variation both inflorescence and leaves.

Thanks to you all - Dinesh Sir. Giby Sir, and Satish Ji.

The flower looks like Lepidagathis cuspidata but leaves don't. But as Giby Sir said " It seems that this species shows lots of variation both inflorescence and leaves", so be it.
