Dear all,
Please help to ID this large shrub found in Sirumalai, an offshoot mountains of Western ghats.

Date/Time- 

11-05-2010 / 11:20 AM

Location- Place, Altitude, GP

ca.1600asl; Dindigul, TN

Habitat- Garden/ Urban/ Wild/ Type- 

wild

Plant Habit-

small tree

Height/Length- 

ca. 3 M

Leaves Type/ Shape/ Size- 

8 x 2 cm

Inflorescence Type/ Size- 

axillary; cyme

Flowers Size/ Colour/ Calyx/ Bracts- 

1.5 x 0.5 cm; yellow

Fruits Type/ Shape/ Size Seeds- 


Other Information like Fragrance, Pollinator, Uses etc.-

On examination, I feel it matches with Elaeagnus indica Serv. as per high resolution specimens at GBIF & Flora of peninsular India
It looks different from other observations at Elaeagnus conferta Roxb. in the shape and colour of the inflorescence and flowering period (as it is flowering in May).
