The canopy walk at Talakona, a fast developing community based eco tourism is considered as the 2nd largest in Asia. (240 meters long, 80 feet high). However, what is distressing is that the walkway has been engineered with the help of steel ropes, iron nails, screws et al, plunged right into the heart of old, stately trees. And with 3000 visitors pounding the canopy walk on weekends , we wonder if the trees already with deep wounds can survive in the coming years.
Some of the affected trees include the endemics- Shorea Talura, Syzygium cumini, Mangifera Indica ...
