Dear Friends,

I had seen few flowers fallen on the ground in a Forest near Motigudda, North Karnataka. I tried to look for flowers on the nearby tree but could not spot any. I am sharing photographs of this flower. Flowers were small in size (around 10mm).  Pedicel is stout. Any guess on its ID...

Date/Time: 18-01-2011 / 05:00PM
Location: Near Motigudda, North Karnataka
Habitat: Wild
Plant Habit: I am presuming it to be a Tree as i could not see ang shrubs, Climbers near by.

regards
Prashant

Hi,

It is little difficult to confirm the species using just flowers. If you can provide at least a picture with leafy branch that would make life easier to try for the species. My guess is that there is a possibility of this being G. indica considering the fact that this has taken from N. Canara! But not a confirmed one!

Regards,
Giby

A reply from Mohanan ji as per comments at the bottom at Garcinia:
"All the photographs put under Garcinia travancorica are of Garcinia gummi-gutta only. Garcinia travancorica is very different. I have photographs of G. travancorica. Pl tell how I can upload,"
