Dear All,

Pl find attached photo for id, today captured around 20 Un ID plants/tree/shrub ,in this post attached fruit , that grows in to fullpod, ripened and cracks open in 4 segments to set the seeds out , around 10 no. beetle was noticed in this plant.

I am seeing only pictures of Glochidion and not of Hydnocarpus. Is the thread got mixed up?!

Looks like Glochidion species. Could be G.elliptica. Is this Kadu
pappi in Kannada?

I agree with Vijay that this is Glochidion sp. of Phyllanthaceae family.

I have revised the genus Glochidion for India and adjoining countries.  I am unable to identify the present photos which seem to be interesting.  However, for a taxonomic treatment, herbaruium specimens are compulsory.

Got it now.  It is Glochidion zeylanicum (Gaertn.) A.Juss. var. zeylanicum of the family Phyllanthaceae, Euphorbiaceae sensu lato.
