The plant previously included under the genus Trigonella has been transferred to genus Medicago.
Small annual herb, prostrate to ascending, stem slender; leaves pinnately trifoliate, leaflets 5-10 mm long, 3-7 mm broad, obovate-oblong, cuneate at base, dentate or pinnatifid mainly in upper part; inflorescence sessile, 1-3-flowered, in umbellate cluster, in leaf axils; calyx campanulate, 5-6 mm long; corolla yellow, 5-7 mm long; pod 3-7 cm long, slightly flattened and curved, reticulately veined, many-seeded.
