Dear friends,
This large shrub looks similar to Grewia asiatica, ... but with the difference in flowers (my feeling) ... the striking reddish (or orange) hue is not seen in the centre around the inner base of the flower that is observed in G. asiatica ... also the flowers look larger comparatively.

Habitat : scrub forest on outskirts of village, at base of mountain ... Tung fort here.
Type : deciduous forest

: alternately arranged simple, with serrated margin
Shape : looks more to be lanceolate
Size : about 7 - 12 cm x 4 - 7 cm

: axillary cluster of 2 - 3 flowers
Size : 2 -3 cm dia.

: about 1.5 - 2 cm across
Colour : white, sepals fade to brownish-orange
Calyx : larger than petals, lending colour to the flower

This plant is Grewia asiatica for me kindly wait for others to respond , morphological variation in terms of color and size is quite common in plants

Hi Dinesh
Beautifully illustrated pictures.
I see following imp. characters here to call it Grewia abutilifolia
Leaves are more ovate and acuminate. Petals are much smaller than sepals.
It will be more  lanceolar in G.helicterifolia
(I have not seen both of these plants so far)
