Tanay--

Most likely. J. mimosifolia is the most common species in cultivation.

Ken.

Dear friends ... there is another close species ... Jacaranda obtusifolia ssp. rhombifolia
Not familiiar with this species though have photos of it here: http://www.flickr.com/search/?s=int&w=91314344@N00&q=Jacaranda+obtusifolia+ssp.+rhombifolia&m=text
Ajinkya Gadave helped me with the ID at my flickr photostream.

Branches reaching for sky, (upright oriented) remind me of this J. obtusifolia ssp. rhombifolia
Some clarity / discussion will help me.

Regards.

I too think this Jacaranda mimosaefolia D. Don. According to the book  'Trees of Mumbai',  the tree has a pyramidal structure of cluster of flowers as seen in your pics. The colour of the flowers becomes pale with passing days as seen in your pics. The basal leaflets are larger than apical ones, I can see a few like that in your pics.

regards,
Rashida.
