I have been looking at this plant since morning and trying to conclude if this is Dendrobium barbatulum or Dendrobium ovatum.
Unfortunately I can reach to any conclusion!!
I have been telling people to send me some flowers of both of the species since a long time, but havent got any, untill recently Ms. Smita told me that she is sending some, which is yet to reach me.
The link you have provided seems to me as a different flower than this one. This is green, the flower on the link is reddish.
If you can compare the spur of your flower with Mr Swagat's then you will find this one to be much longer than the other.
I will wait for Smita's specimen and study more to confirm.
In the meantime, anyone who is willing to share pics of both (if they think they know both plants), they can send me the samples in 70% (atleast 5 flowers with bracts), in separate bottles or may be in same bottle with flwoers properly labelled.
I would be grateful.
Regards
Pankaj

Yes I read your message but not received your package yet.
Dont worry, I will let you know soon. I thought of writing once I get your package and secondly, i reached Dehradun yesterday evening only and have many pending replies on my inbox.
Thanks again.

Dear H S
To me this is more close to Dendrobium ovatum.
Can you please justify your views. I just need to know. Unfortunately,
now that I am in HK, I couldnt carry my plant samples here and couldnt
check them either.
I would be grateful for your help.
Pankaj

Bracts ovate, flowers about 0.6-1.4cm wide, lateral sepals oblong lanceolate, dorsal sepal oblanceolate, lip flat, side lobes very small, rounded, the hairs in the lip yellowish green (green basically) - Dendrobium ovatum

In D. barbatulum Bracts very small, flowers about 2.5cm wide, lateral sepals lanceolate, slightly falcate, dorsal linear lanceolate, lip flat 3-lobed, rhomboid-ovate, hairs in the lip with yellow-brown hairs.

I agree with Pankaj that the plant in the picture is Dendrobium ovatum of Orchidaceae family.

Regards
Giby

Hi,
If these are Dendrobium ovatum, then what are these orchids of mine seen in this link : [Incidentally these photographs have featured in Dr.Pande et all's "Wild Orchids of the North Western Ghats"].

Please don't tell me that they are the same.
                                   With regards,
