Monsoon flora 2011 - Fruiting Red - 29Aug2011AR01 from  Bhagamandala

Date/Time-
27 Jul 2011 04.31
Location- Place, Altitude, GPS- Bhagamandala, Coorg, Karnataka, 1535 meter
Habitat- Garden/ Urban/ Wild/ Type-Wild, Western ghats, Monsoon, rainy day
Plant Habit- Tree/ Shrub/ Climber/ Herb-Looks like a Shrub, 
Height/Length-approx -
3-4 feet
Leaves Type/ Shape/ Size- 5-6cms. Alternate, elliptic,  leaf stem has thorns.
Inflorescence Type/ Size-
Flowers Size/ Colour/ Calyx/ Bracts-
Fruits Type/ Shape/ Size Seeds-  Round, Red, 2-3cms, smooth surface, 
Other Information like Fragrance, Pollinator, Uses etc.-Leaves eaten by insects 
No. of such plant sightings/Abundane 1

Villagers call - Billisul (Coorg, ),

only heard of it... never seen it in real life, photo seen first on
flowers of india...

Called Kamboi કમબોઈ or Kali kamboi કાળી કમબોઈ in Gujarati and
Sanskrit...
for Sanskrit just write it in Devanagari script...

sometimes twigs are used by tribals as datuns...
