I am confused with the identity... S. bigemina, S. setulosa or S. hirsuta

pls provide some details about the plant for confirmation..

Dear HS,

The crux of my posts with the subject line having words Names of Plants in India is validating the names.
The photos put in such posts are not for querying ID.

Am quite comfortable with Smithia setulosa.
This photo indeed shows large handsome flower of Smithia setulosa, about 15 - 20 mm across.
All aspects about this plants are larger in comparison to other species of Smithia found in northern Western Ghats.
The full grown plant stands about 1 - 1.5 m tall, with large compound leaves, the leaflets as large as compound leaves of the other 2 species.

Both S. hirsuta and  S. bigemina are smaller plants, less than a metre high.

Cannot rule out a mistake by showing a wrong photo while documenting names; please do alert me.

Regards.
Dinesh

thanks for giving the details to confirm the species,,

i agree that your photos put in such posts are not for querying id,, but fact is that you are never sure about your id.. and how can one know the plant size with the photographs, than it becomes difficult to confirm the species when there are similar species in the same genus..

example check with your Thelepaepale ixiocephala....

so if you put the morphological details it will be good for people like to know the species in proper details

thanks and regards
