I checked the apple india website

It is not listed as a product.

The reason I think of this is because it’s designed for streaming music and video of the itunes store.

Since there is no music or video in the India iTunes store, it’s not sold here.

Rishi,

Why not start a petition campaign asking why India is given second rate status when it comes to Apple products despite the huge volume of products sold here. This is a sore fact on most users minds and as everyone knows it allows for huge black market distribution. It is about time the company takes notice of this and launches their products here on par with the rest of the world. Would recommend an online petition which is then bought to the notice of the corporation.

Hi Rahul,

I think, Apple doesn’t see a potential in earning revenue in India for the following reasons:

1. A majority of Indians don’t give a crap about paying for stuff that can be copied :-)
2. There aren’t enough number of people with high speed internet at their houses as compared to the number of people in USA or Europe
3. Due to the buying power of people in India is very low, the average rate of selling DVDs or CDs are far lower than than in the US, which means the profit for song / movie is significantly lower.

So this will impact their revenue.. ROI not good.

Do you know the number of servers and storage an iTunes store needs to host / store the digital audio and video content?

It’s HUGE…….. Let me say that again….. It’s MASSIVE…….

It’s not worth while.

This is of course my humble opinion. I have no data to back it up.

Also, if you really want an Apple TV that badly, just get one from abroad along with a $100 iTunes Gift card and stream the movies and music on your TV…… But first get a high speed broad band internet connection for your house…. NO.. I’m talking about your Reliance Data Card. ha ha.

All TVs sold in India today support both NTSC and PAL for over a decade now. That’s not the reason they aren’t sold here. Also I have the older Apple TV and it plays fine on my TV.

Hi Rishi/Rahul
need help on broadband connection - which one should I subscribe to? My tri-band from MTNL was a disaster though a few years ago it worked great. I need one or 2 options as my locality (chembur - Mumbai) may not have all.
thanks

You can on a Jailbroken iPad using either PDAnet or MyWi.

The upcoming iOS 4.3 is also rumored to support tethering, in which case a) you wont have to jailbreak b) it'll be free.

Thanks & Regards,

Hey Rahul,

Didn’t know this could be done, but then I’m not a fan of jailbreaking anything till such time I’m ok facing the consequences.

Your call.

What happened to the HAME 3G WIFI Router which had the 3G Reliance USB Data Card? Doesn’t that work for the iPhone or Laptop or for that matter any Wifi Device?

Guess, I was wrong about it being free in 4.3. It depends on your carrier. They can decide whether to enable it or not, and whether to charge for it.

Hi Rahul !

Another way to get a solution is to use  Edimax 3g 6210n portable router or photon wifi. In that case u really do not need to use the sim in the ipad 3g. Edimax is portable device which can be carried along with ipad and has usb port where u can insert 3g modems. To be honest I have not tried these prodcuts, but came across them when i am trying to give 3g solutions to wifi model ipad customers.
Anybody who has more info on the same can be kind enough to share as there is a big segment of early iPad buyers who have picked up wifi models and are looking for a solution to use 3g on the go.

with regards and best wishes,

Sanjay Chordia

I've had the 64 gig wifi version of IPAD for a while and have been using Cradlepoint WIpipe which works just fine with my Tata Photon. Its battery is good for a couple of hours. For 3G I haven't found a device yet, but am sure this company would have one. It can be ordered online in the US.

hey why didn't you use an online biz card holder?so instead of transfer contact details into excel now you can put all of them on a cloud serve. I'm now using CardFila app on my iPhone and it really works!excellent idea that you dont have to do it by yourself, just capture and send.
