Good idea,Ganesh.
it will be great path showing activity to the students.
My suggestion is that you can keep one of the meetings in month for hackerspace activity. So you can take along Open Source with it

All for it, Ganesh! Where do you propose?

AND, recently, something dawned on me - many good engineers are
groomed in the junk yard - machine junk yard, that is. Know of any
junk yards in Trivandrum where we can scavenge for parts?

Gokul Das

My opinion........
First we have to spread this concept among the masses through some news paper write ups, social networking media,..
Then lot of people will get involved .Then we can take a smail building for rent basis and start our labortary. We need to conduct lots of regular workshops meetups discussions on latest technology's..it should become more live.People from diffrent walks of life should be in our group..I heard in one of the hackerspace video that there is even one kitchen out there .. in the hacker space where people come and try out new dishes.......I hope we can make it a heaven if we unite .... and the generations to come shall even build satellites in the hacker space and lanch that and sent men to moon...and even to the outer space.....Lets dream big...

I heard from one of my friends that corporates have scheme to donate a small percentage of there profit for the improvement of the society.....The idea of hackerspace is a grand one..if we can prove to the society that our activities are worth good for the generations to come then i am sure funding will not be a barrier and we will get lot of equipments and resources from corporates ,governments and  private donations will come and our hacker space will race to world standards...cheers...lets unite to gear up ...

I personally contacted some persons for donating components to hackerspace and got a positive reply..i think we can use a room in SPACE untill a permanent setup is ready.

Hi Ganesh,

Really good to have such recurring meetings on Hardware and open source software to drive it...

Please push it progress further

Hi,

I am moving out of Trivandrum in coming month, I have some electronic stuff (Wires, weird power supply, components, screws etc) that me and friends own. Its neatly packed into one cardboard box. I was wondering if I could donate it you guys.

Any takers?
