Ubuntu in desktop not functioning properly

Dear colleagues
Last one week there is error in loading Ubuntu in my Desktop. Any body passing through Sasthamangalam may pls come & rectify the problem.

Thanks for responding
Technically unaware to explain. While loading Ubuntu Routine check screen appears, then about 50% check jumps to a long error list appears on the screen namely : No job control in this shell, again listing 7 commands not found.
Last line says(First letter R or B not sure):  oot@ubuntu:~#  (with a blinking cursor).
NB: only this time  the problem appeared after a power failure. - Thanks

Thank u for the response. Now it is not even opening. At present am using my sons Laptop which is window loaded computer for checking email.   Not comfortable using since am used to browse on Ubuntu from quite sometime.

your help would be much obliged.

any takers? i am in kesavadasapuram, otherwise I could have given a try.
Mr. Manikandan can you try a rescue mode boot , if you have the boot
CD. There is an option while booting up too.

  It was having a problem with hardware the main was the hard disk was getting too hot and it was the main reason for  hang we provided a cooling fan extra , next as Manikantan sir was doing many restarts a manual fsck was required then a security update really solved most problems.

Hurray for Saral, and the community!
I still remember Saral coming for the first install fest (Dishaa 2008)
to get Linux installed. He's been a very active member lug (or fsug)
ever since..

Regarding your printer issue, I think it's better if you send a request
to Canon.
