Resume of George Bigham

Career Objective: To continue helping create great technology-related
products, and to then help them succeed by excelling at interpreting
their benefits to key influencers, resellers and end-users.

Capabilities/Experience:

Ä A skilled product manager with experience in designing, developing
and shipping quality software products on time and on budget.

Ä An accomplished creator and implementer of marketing and sales
programs in the industry, including software, hardware and services,
in all channels.

Ä A veteran evangelist with a strong track record of quickly
comprehending new technologies and interpreting their benefits to
targeted decision-makers.

Ä An experienced account manager, successful at marketing and selling
solutions that include consulting services as well as hardware and
software systems in heterogenous networked computing environments.

Professional Experience:

1995-Present: Product Manager ã Patriot Software, Inc., Houston, TX

We shipped the first Macintosh version of Fax Congress Now!Å at the end
of April 1995, on budget and on schedule. We even shipped all the
back-orders before the end of the month! As Product Manager for this
small new startup software company, I led the team that produced the Mac
version of the product, wrote the manual and created the Help files.

I also created Patriotπs order-entry system, wrote the documentation for
it and trained the staff in its use. I assisted the Windows team with
product development for the advanced 1.3 version of the Windows product,
and also assisted with sales and marketing, managing major national
accounts like the National Rifle Association and Philip Morris U. S. A.

1994-1995: Director of Sales & Marketing ã Chris Schaefer & Co.,
Houston,TX

As Director of Sales and Marketing at this small software
developer/consulting firm/systems integrator, my responsibilities
encompassed all aspects of the sales and marketing processes including
product launches, account management, dealing with distributors and
managing our important alliance relationships, the most important of
which was with Hewlett-Packard. I specified, configured and sold HP-UX
(Unix) computer systems and networks, HP 3000 MPE systems, Novell
networks and COMPAQ products, as well as accounting and financial
management software systems for the above platforms.

Chris Schaefer & Co. (continued)

I also managed the product launch for the Import Documentation SystemÅ
software product to take advantage of recent developments with NAFTA,
GATT and the Customs ≥Mod≤ act. I
streamlined installation procedures and created improved installation
documents for both the DOS stand-alone and Novell network versions of
that product.

1993: Alliance Manager ã U.S. Videtotel, Houston, TX

USV recruited me back to Houston from Iowa to be their Alliance Manager.
The goal was to build the subscriber base for this fledgling information
service by working with alliance partners. The method was to create GUI
clients for the NVN network for bundling, and I was assigned by the
General Manager to lead this software development project. We had
shipped the third beta version when a re-organization resulted in the
release of 12 employees, including the General Manager, the VP of
Engineering, the Director of Operations, myself and others.

1990-92: Sales Manager & Account Manager ã CE Software, Des Moines,
IA

Prior to my joining CE Software it had doubled its revenue annually for
three years, primarily because new and significantly revised Macintosh
software products were being launched every year. The challenge was to
continue growing the companyπs revenue when new products and revenue
upgrades were not being developed.

Of course selling existing products more effectively was the solution.
As Sales Manager I led the team that created sales territories and hired
salespeople for them. Sales tracking systems were designed and
implemented. We began to work systematically with systems integrators,
resellers and consultants. I also trained inside salespeople, worked
with technical support staff and with product management. I created
product literature, wrote demo scripts, and used those scripts while
doing booth duty at trade shows.

1989-90: Director of Marketing ã Future Soft Engineering, Houston,
TX

I was the entire sales and marketing department here and we did
amazingly great things to help this (at the time!) small one-product
software company prosper. I created, developed and managed the direct
corporate sales program for North America and managed international
sales via a distributor network. I also was part of the team that
developed, negotiated and managed OEM agreements with AT&T, NCR and
other major clients.

I managed strategic alliance programs with Microsoft, Hewlett-Packard,
Ungermann-Bass, Eicon Technologies and other key alliance partners. And
I negotiated distributor agreements with Ingram Micro, Merisel and other
distributors.

We achieved a key success when a stripped-down OEM version of DynaComm,
Windows Terminal, became an integral component of Windows 3.0 and 3.1.
Our subsequent advertising keyed off that with the theme, ≥When your
communications needs outgrow Windows Terminal, hand off seamlessly to
its big brother, DynaComm.≤

I managed GCC's reseller network in the South Central region in a
critical period. Their flagship HyperDriveÅ internal hard drive for the
Macintosh product was obsoleted overnight when Apple introduced the
Macintosh SE. I began rebuilding the dealer network in Texas and five
other states, focusing on laser printers and other GCC peripheral
products.

1987: Product Manager and MarketingãProducts Diversified, Houston, TX

After leaving Palantir I consulted on a project in which I acted as the
product manager for FREEFORM/Mac, a software product which linked
Macintoshes to Britton-Lee Intelligent Database Machines, and our team
did a great job of shipping the product under difficult time and
resource constraints.

1986-87: Director of Marketing ã Palantir Software, Houston, TX

When I moved to Houston in 1986 Palantir recruited me to be their
Director of Marketing. It quickly became clear to me that their key
product was inTalkÅ, the Macintosh-based communications software they
licensed from Future Soft. I managed a staff of eight people and my
responsibilities included all marketing and sales functionsãadvertising,
public relations, trade shows, telephone and outside sales, and an
important technical sales program targeted at Fortune 500 corporations.
Top management at Palantir was ultimately unwilling to commit the
resources that were required for this product to succeed and, after I
left, subsequently went out of business. The rights to inTalk then
reverted to Future Soft Engineering, which I joined a year later to
continue helping DynaCommÅ (inTalkπs new product name) a success.

1983-86: National Sales Manager ã Telos Software Products, Santa
Monica, CA

The marketing challenge at Telos was to simultaneously launch an
innovative new software product, FilevisionÅ with the launch of the new
hardware platform it required, the Macintosh. The good news is that we
did it ã Filevision went onto Meriselπs best seller list and stayed
there for 19 weeks. Some observers at the time said it might have been
the ≥VisiCalc for the Mac≤ã others say it was a precursor to HyperCard.

I was the chief evangelist for Filevision and worked closely with Apple
to leverage our marketing and sales efforts with theirs. I managed
distributor, dealer, VAR and education channels, and sold source code,
site-licenses and custom software to Fortune 500 and public-sector
organizations. I presented to and trained Apple corporate and field
staff and their customers, distributors and resellers, and created and
delivered formal product presentations to major customers, at trade
shows, with major resellers and at user group meetings.

Telos Software Products (continued)

Prior to my Filevision assignment at Telos I was the Product Manager for
TeloSchoolÅ, a dedicated database product targeted for elementary school
administrative use running on the Apple II microcomputers. I selected
and managed a national network of educational resellers for this
product. My responsibilities included creating, training on and using
demo scripts, and representing the company and the product on panels at
major national education conferences.

1981-83: Regional Marketing Specialist ã Scott Foresman Electronic
Publishing

As the Western Regional Marketing Manager, I selected, recruited,
trained and managed an educational technology reseller network in
California and nine other states for this major textbook publishing
company which had just formed a new division to create and market
instructional computing systems to K-12 schools. The initial hardware
platform was the Texas Instruments 99/4A microcomputer. Products
included hardware, instructional software, administrative software, the
LOGO programming language and the BRS on-line service.

1968-81: College Textbook Publishing (various companies)

Before entering the computer industry I worked as a college textbook
sales representative in various West Coast territories, first for Holt,
Rinehart and Winston, then for Little,Brown and Company, and finally for
Science Research Associates. At SRA half of the revenues in the college
division were based on Computer Science, MIS and Data Processing
textbooks. And while I was there SRA signed a marketing agreement with
Atari that resulted in an Atari 800 microcomputer system being issued to
me as a demonstration unit. As my interest in computers began to
develop my career began moving from textbook publishing first towards
educational uses of computer technology and then later on to general
uses of that technology.
