Workshop on 24th October 2009

Hi all,
        I am putting my mails and direct conversion on chat to all students who want to be part of FOSSified  their collegs and thus delhi, We had a meeting also on Secular house where many issue cameout and we will work systematically.
        Till now only parin has comeup with date and he told me that workshop can be done on 24th of october (Saturday). Parin can you post some more details and currect progress on workshop and how much time will be available and how suggested topic. We can discuss all issue on workshop and about your college in this thread.
        

PS:  the simple way to make a wokshop in your colleges is to comeup with a team and date and post a new thread on mailing list like "Workshop on XX oct 2009 " and start discusssing it. use only saturday and sunday. We havenot done workshop in IITD too from long time what IITian are doing ??

Sorry for replying a bit late but this was due to some reason which is that i wanted to confirm from My Director Sir about the date issue finally i talked to with him today and he is fine with 24th oct which is great.

@sid Mr. Siddharth could we please we have a workshop in evening in IGIT actually my college in quite far and is situated in an area where going late is a bit risky and i think there is no such type of issue with IGIT and in my college students are also interested in the morning workshop so if this works for you 2 it wil b great.

Just a suggestion-- but if we want to create enthusiasm about technology-- including Linux-- in colleges--- it may be a better idea to even invite people to show up at BCD7-- since seeing hundreds of people- including from other towns- will really enthuse a lot of youngsters-- far more than just a speaker at their college speaking.

According to me for workshops we need 2 or 3 persons only to present and those who are not going to OSSCamp can come i hope, so there will be no issues and by having two workshops in a day won't break our enthusiasm i hope rather it would be a success for all of us.

@siddharth sir now is it ok with giving our college the morning slot actually i have told a lot of students about the workshop a lot of are ready to come provided they are provided transportation but since the timings aren't fixed yet so i couldn't do anything please reply so that i can plan for more things like Transportation and some other issues.

@Narendra Sir please reply soon and confirm the workshop + timings as soon as possible as i need plan a lot of things in accordance with that.

workshop but the HODs seem unhelping..It appears I will Have to do it

Work with Sarai they have one booklet its good for first time users ,
ask them if they can share few copies ,you can collaborate and work on
the second version of this Booklet later .

arond Delhi. As we discussed in Secular house dinner, we will try to

* You will need to mention "Entry free", so people know that they
don't need to pay for any registration, if it is not required. The
general assumption is that one needs to pay for such workshops.

* Provide an openstreetmap with directions, perhaps? or nearby

* It will also be good to mention the modes of possible transportation
available to get to the venue.

* If people come from outside Delhi, will they be given any

* If you ask people to bring the laptops, do mention if you will
provide any Internet connectivity (wired, wireless), if any.

* Could possibly work more on the template structure of the document,
but, as always, time is a constraint for all of us.

We would love to do so, but we do not have tools and volunteers to do so. Anybody want to volunteer for this.

We want to record workshop, but We do not have sponsor's for the workshop. If you want to get in recorded, just come just with your friends and arrange some cam-corders and record it.
