ICAT meeting 27/1/2022

(o) search API for ExPaNDS deliverable - Rolf reported there is a deadline for ExPaNDS for the search API end of February. The deliverable has to be ready by mid-February. Matthew is confident he will have a version ready for testing in 1 week. STFC is waiting for a draft of the deliverable from Carlos (PSI). Lousie said that the search API endpoint could be exposed for ISIS data.

(o) python-icat - Rolf provided a PR to address the query needs of the search API, he will merge the PR himself

(o) icat V5.0 - Kevin reported that icat v5 is well advanced feature-wise. He asked what if any sites are missing any features. Rolf proposed that issues 265 + 266 could be added in a minor release. Kevin will be ready for reviewing the components in 1 week's time. A release candidate could be ready for the next meeting in 1 month.

(o) GH issues 265 + 266 : Alejandra introduced th two issues. The request was to add an image for Instruments to the database table. During the discussion different viewpoints emerged. Some sites (e.g. STFC) were in favour of this solution while others (e.g. ESRF)were more in favour of a more generic solution which would allow multiple parameters for Instruments. Alejandra proposed to continue the discussion offline. In the meantime she updated the issues.

(o) News from ELI: ICAT is running and connected to Keycloak. Main effort now in defining instruments and getting 

(o) News from CERIC-ERIC: busy setting up the Icat OpenID Connect plugin to use their Keycloak instance (reported by Emiliano in an email to Andy)

(o) No news from SESAME. Andy to provide email of Sesame contact.

(o) Kevin reported that topcat has log4j 1.x but it can be removed. Kevin will document how to remove it in an issue on github.

(o) Alex presented that Icat is now dockerised. Version 0.2 is available for testing.

(o) Danny (ALBA) announced that this will be his last meeting as he will be leaving ALBA next month. He thanked eveyrone for their collaboration and help with ICAT. Alexander will replace him as ICAT contact for ALBA.
