Relatives fear that he might be tortured in the Federal Security Service

On June 13, 2012 Mustafa Ilyasov, a resident of Verkhnie Ubeki village of Levashinskiy District of the Republic of Dagestan, applied to Human Rights Center Memorial. He said that on June 11 at 9 a.m. his father Murad Mustafaevich Ilyasov, 47 years old, arrived in Makhachkala from Moscow (he came there from Egypt, where he studies at Al-Azkhar University). At about 11:30 a.m. Mustafa and his mother met with Murad in Semender village in Makhachkala. An hour later Murad saw his son and wife off to the bus station and planned to go to his elder brother to Kaspiysk, Dagestan. During the day relatives tried to call Murad, but his phone was switched off.

On June 12, they applied with a written statement to the police department of the Kirovskiy district of Makhachkala.

According to informal information, which the relatives got on June 16 from an officer of one of the security forces, Murad is the FSS, he is being questioned. They fear that he might be tortured. According to the relatives, Murad is suffering from cardiovascular diseases.

Mustafa said that Murad had been the imam of the mosque of the Verkhnie Ubeki village for 14 years. In 2004 he went to study in Al-Azhar University in Egypt. Once a year he came home to visit his family. During this time he was twice picked up by the FSS officers, talked to and released.

Relatives ask for help to find Ilyasov.
