On June 1 Head of the Chechen Republic Ramzan Kadyrov Talked to Human Rights Defenders in Grozny

On June 1, 2012 a picket dedicated to the problem of enforced disappearances of people took place in the square of journalists, in the center of Grozny city of the Chechen Republic. The action was carried out by Mother's anxiety organization. Lawyers of the Joint Mobile Group (JMG) of Russian human rights organizations, who have been working in the republic since 2009, - Dmitry Utukin, Sergey Babinets and Roemer Lemaitre were among the participants. Magomed Daudov, head of the Chechen President’s Office and Government, and Muslim Khuchiyev, Grozny Mayor, attended the event. Human rights defenders attracted their attention, and after a brief talk Khichiev invited JMG officers to the mayor's office for "acquaintance and more detailed talk".

Ramzan Kadyrov, Magomed Daudov, Viktor Ledenev (head of the republic deaprtment of the Investigation committee), Mikhail Savchin (public prosecutor of the Chechen Republic) and Ruslan Alkhanov (head of the MIA of the republic) consequently took part in the "talk" with human rights defenders. Unfortunately, JMG lawyers almost did not have any chance to answer complaints addressed to them or ask these public agents questions (for more information see message "Chechen President publicly accuses human rights defenders of hatred towards Chechen people and calls their activities detrimental" by Committee Against Torture: http://www.pytkam.net/web/index.php?go=News&in=view&id=2349).
