With the eminent release of hobo 1.0, I was thinking of writing a
(somewhat) simple hobo contract work board. Unless someone already
has one going or can otherwise convince me it's a bad idea. :D

Great idea...

This would be great. We could definitely add this to hobocentral.net
if it turns out well.

Keep us posted!

http://hire-a-hobo.heroku.com/ is where I'll put whatever I've got
currently working. If anyone wants to help with whatever, just shoot
me an email.

simple version of plan is users are both employers and employees.
employers own projects, employees bid on projects, employer selects
bid. pretty much all lifecycle driven there

secondary: some way of rating both employers/employees, comments and
probably message system for employers looking for a particular
skillset. oddly, all that will be the simpler to implement since I've
done most of it for another project and had it all extracted out
(mostly) as separate entities.

If we're going to put something up on hobocentral.net, could I suggest that we start with something much simpler - a place for people to post jobs/gigs offered and wanted, organised by location.

I think if we start with something really simple and focus on getting the quality high, that will be most useful to people.

I agree...

BTW, Tom, I think we should skin a "Hobo Orange" theme plugin that
will match the color scheme of Hobocentral.net.

I liked what you had a couple of years ago in your demos...

IMHO before anything else We should add a simple Google map
integration (the latest API is very clean) and post that as a
recipe. :)

yeah, what's up there is what I threw together yesterday with my spare
time. not intended as anything close to finished product really, just
kinda seeing what works and doesn't so far.

sounds more like a standard forum style would do for that. forum for
each general location and one for location unimportant.

Any idea on when a rudimentary job board will be available? I do have
a project I'd like to recruit hobo developers for right away. Or, if
there's another site for that now please let me know. Thanks!

True, that would be close. A more finely tuned app would be cool though I think. Something similar to this maybe?
