There was talk today on IRC about including a simple private posts
plugin in core. This would accomplish two things; provide a simple
example of how to work with ACL, and close our oldest ticket #6 :-)

Since including a plugin in core is a voting issue, let's vote on it.

A +1 is a vote for including it in core. A -1 is a vote against.

+1 in principal, but not as the plugin/Habari currently stands.

I've just tested the plugin and as soon as I mark a post as private,
it's the only post I see when logged in as an admin user. This applies
to the admin interface and the main website as a whole. All the
counts shown in the dashboard change to reflect this too - ie they
only show the one post.

Logging out brings all posts back, except the private post, as expected.

Removing the "private" token on that one post brings everything back
to normal and I get all posts back and I can see all posts as admin.

Another thought: wouldn't it be good practice to set the "private =
deny" for the anonymous group automatically rather than expecting them
to read the help and make the change themselves?

Cheers,
Colin

PS. I'm running r3282 .

+1 to include it if we fix the issue Colin just described. I was able to reproduce it on r3282 .

I also agree with Colin that the default should be denying the anonymous group for accessing the private posts. People who'd want to allow them access to these post (for reasons that are beyond me) should be able to do so.

I'm also +1 for including a private posts plugin in Habari core.

Ta for testing, the issues will definitely be addressed, and the
plugin would be functional and useful. The paste was meant to be an
example of a simple ACL plugin, rather than being definitive. You're
probably the first person to actually run it :)

+1 from me, also. A private posts plugin would serve a good teaching
function, as Michael said, and incorporate a feature many people find
desirable.

Simple private posts, with the anonymous group denied by default,
committed in r3293. Closes our oldest open ticket, #6 :D
