Problems when switching displays

I have a 23" display to which I attach my MacBook Pro during working
hours. I then detach my laptop and take it home. I've found that
after I detach the external display, my growl notifications are no
longer displayed on my laptop screen until I stop Growl and then
restart it.

Let me say that the arrangement of my screens is probably relevant
here. When I attach the external screen, I arrange it such that it is
to the right of my laptop's built-in screen, and I have my menu bar
moved to the large screen. I set the Growl notification area as the
upper-right corner. Thus, when I detach the large screen, Growl is
probably still trying to post notifications in the far upper-right and
that position is now far off of the display.

I don't know if Growl can receive notification from the system when an
external display has been added and removed, but if ti can, it would
need to then recalculate the notification area using the new screen
size, whenever this event happens.

I could probably move my notifications to the lower-left corner, but
then they would appear off to the side on my laptop screen when I'm
using the large screen.
