Since upgrading to Growl 1.3 on the Mac App store (after first running
the "Uninstall Growl" Script to remove the old System Preference
pane), I can no longer disable the Skype notifications for "Contact is
Typing," "Contact Signed In," "Contact Signed Out," and "Mood Message
Received." These are very annoying since they are constantly popping
up and completely irrelevant to my needs. I have tried clicking off
the "Enabled" checkbox as well as the "Logging" checkbox for those
events, and I have deleted and reinstalled Growl. No success. Any
help would be greatly appreciated!

Growl 1.3
Mac Os 10.7.1
Safari 5.1
Skype 5.3.60.1093

Skype is not working with growl 1.3 at the moment, so what you are seeing is likely skype's own internal notifications.
try fiddling with skype's preferences (under the events tab)

You are not right Josh. After I removed Growl 1.2 and installed 1.3,
Skype was in App List and was annoying me with its status messages as
well even if I disabled it. So I removed Skype from the list and do
not get any new messages as well as not able to get Skype back into
the list.

Actualy the same problem with Adium: even if I disable Adium in App
List it still shows all the status change notifications (even if Growl
is turned off).

if Skype is not in the list, or growl isn't even running, then that growl cannot possibly be displaying those notifications.
are you certain you successfully removed the old growl? they could still be talking to that.
can you still see it in system preferences?

also, in the specific case of Skype and Adium, you are able to configure which notifications you get from their end, so maybe if we can't figure out what's going on this end, you can just change the settings in each of those app's preferences (under the events tab in both)
