I have an Everex gPC that I once upgraded to gOS space when it first
released. I can't recall but I believe that I had to reconfigure and
setup all the software I had before in the previous version of gOS
(ver. 1). When I upgrade to version 3.0, do I have to re-set up
everything or will it just upgrade my system and leave my files,
software, settings, etc. alone? Thanks in advance.

No, it isn't an upgrade, its a new install. Its comparable from going
to windows 95 to Windows XP. You cant "upgrade", the changes are too
major.

You need to backup all your user data, and after installation any
programs you installed you need to install manually again. In
Principle Synaptics offers an option to save its configuration (which
programs are installed) in a small textfile, so you can restore them
automatically, but because there are many new elements in gOS 3 you
would remove when you do that, it's use isn't safe.

In theory you can install gOS 3 next to gOS 1 on its own partition,
then copy files from gOS 1 to gOS 3, but you need to know how to use a
partitioner to later get rid of gOS 1.

The good news is that gOS 3 will have a working upgrader, so (within
reason) you will be able to upgrade to later versions, and will
receive safety updates etc.

...ok. In that case, when will support for gOS space be discontinued?

No idea, perhaps a Good OS employee is willing to disclose that
information, I doubt it however. Why do you want to know? gOs 2.9 will
probably never be "upgradable" to version 3. So if you want to switch
to gOS 3 sooner or later you will have to install gOS 3.

I know. i just want to know how long i can keep gOS space before it
becomes truly obsolete.

I  believe gOS space to be discontinued. gOS seems to be focusing on intutive google gadget desktop design, and moving away from the "cloudbook" approach. While cloudbook can be highly appluasing for netbooks, the gOS Space as far as I have seen requires an intensive graphics card, something that I have been unable to provide for the gOS Space. So I dont expect to see netbooks bundled with gOS Space untill maybe later next year as when netbook technology improves.
