ok, i noticed two things that are really wrong:
ok, first change the volume with the volume buttons and you'll see
what i mean.
the picture of the speaker is too big and blurry, and continues
underneath the bar. now thats weird.
secondly, sliders are...invisible. go to the volume control and all of
the sliders are invisible, whether they be horizontal or vertical.
other than these two things, gOS is pretty fine.

who develops gOS anyway? how would this bug get fixed? would i have to
do it myself?

Try updating the gos-theme and icon packs through Synaptic Package
Manager a bug fix should already be in there for these issues.

Why not issuing simply a an upgrade/bugfix through the upgrader?
updating "gos-theme" isn't possible. I was using the "human-
clearlooks" theme, so I tried with Synaptic, but I could only remove
"gos-theme", not re-install (the option was greyed out). So I tried to
remove, then re-install. But removing went ok, but on restoring
Synaptics claims there isn't an entry "gos-theme" to install !
What to do now, luckily gOS still works, because I'm using the human
clearlooks theme, but obviously gos-theme isn't available no more with
the preferences>appearance menu. So how do I get the theme back?
preferably a fixed version...

Make sure for some reason that your gos repository was not removed
from your sources list. If it happened to be please add it via
Software Sources.
deb http://software.thinkgos.com gadgets main
Then reload your sources list and update your gos-theme pack to
version 3.1.1.
Which version of the themes pack are you currently running?
The 3.1.1 package should have the fix.

Well, there was no http://software.thinkgos.com/ under the "Third
party Software" tab, and I doubt it ever has. At least I wouldn't know
what I did to remove it.
so I added "deb http://software.thinkgos.com gadgets main"
After I did I, the upgrade manager auto-launched, and I automatically
got two upgrades "gos-gdm-theme" and "gos-icon-theme". I installed
them and gos-gdm-theme was upgraded from version 3.0.5 to 3.0.6, and
gos-icon-theme was upgraded from version 3.0.4 to 3.1.2.
Still under preferences>appearance there wasn't a gos-theme to choose,
only "human" and "human-clearlooks".
So I started synaptic, and found gos-theme, and it wasn't installed!
But the version available was 3.1.1
So I installed it, and now I could choose it under appearances.
So all is well, I have my gOS theme back, and the volume regulator now
has a nice round knob.

I just noticed the same thing.There wasnt a thinkgos repository
entry.I added it and bingo it Synaptic updated the theme and a few
other things.

That is an odd circumstance that it wasn't present in the software
sources, however I am glad that the updates did work and clear out
those bugs from your guys system.
If you happened to be running the beta instead of one the Release
Candidates or the Final Release then that may have been the problem.

Sorry for asking the simpliest, but as I mentioned I do not know

My synaptic also does not show gOS 3.1.1. But how to added "debhttp://
software.thinkgos.comgadgets main" Do I do it in the terminal or in
synaptic manager?
What are the steps?

I added the source, updated the synaptic listing, updated gOS theme to
3.1.1 along with some other gOS packages, rebooted, changed the
appearance back to gOS theme. Somehow the slider still missing.
Is it something wrong with my system?
Why I have so much problems that other do not have?

Do you think uninstall the gOS theme first and then reinstall will do?
Do not know if updating the gOS theme, menu etc effect the dock (the
wbar). Now every time I turn on the computer, the dock icons are so
big. I guess about 50 pt. I have to open wbarconf and refresh to get
back what I set which is 30 pt).

Yes try to do what I did, switch to another theme than the gOS theme,
then go to synaptic, and remove the gos theme, then add the url
http://software.thinkgos.com/ to the sources and after a few seconds
an automatic update will happen, and the gOS theme will be added back.
Now switch back to the gOS theme and it should be fixed.

Yes it works. By removing the gOS theme and then reinstalling, the
new theme took effect.
In the process, my dock (wbar) disappeared. Luckily, there is a
thread of postings here to help me recovered it.
Thank everybody.
Now I can go back to work on my headphone and webcam problems.
