Hi all,

I have some applications which (for reasons not discussed here) can't
be easily ported to GWT 2.0, so I would like to run them with GWT
1.7.1.

I can configure the version of GWT used using "google settings" in
eclipse, but even if I configure gwt 1.7.1, when I run the project,
the hosted mode browser starts searching for gwt plugin, and the jetty
server is started with a different configuration, not the way it used
to run... in short, things do not work.

Is there a way to revert to the old ways temporarily?

Apparently, if I have the new Eclipse plugin (and I have it), there is
no way to run things the gwt-1.7.1 way. But the old plugin is no
longer available from the google install site...

Do you have any advice on this?

Thank you for your help:

I think that you are running into issue 4112.  You can work around it by deleting the war/YOUR_MODULE_NAME/hosted.html file.  Try that and see if it resolves your problem.

Basically, if you tried GWT 2.0 SDK the hosted.html will be updated to do things like check for the GWT browser plugin, etc.  However, the bug is that if you then switch to a pre-2.0 SDK the hosted.html file will not be reverted back to a pre-2.0 compatible version.  That is why when you run 1.7 it tries to look for the browser plugin.
