Today we experienced a temporary outage on a number of sites using the
Google Maps JavaScript API. Services have now been fully restored.

The closest I've seen is something I wrote as long as seven years ago.
It's not entirely complete, and won't help with the API being
delivered but the key-check failing, but it may be helpful as a start.
