App was down; deployed anew (no changes) and it worked again. What gives?

For no reason I can discern, my app (www.modernizr.com) stopped
working. Instead of pages, it returned a "There was an error
processing this request" message.

I started looking at the system status page, and while there was an
issue with the Datastore it didn't seem like it was the cause for this
(Modernizr doesn't use Datastore). I eventually redeployed my app as-
is and then it worked again.

Anyone have an idea what might've gone wrong?

I'm experiencing Datastore issues. The System Status says that
yesterday were some problems with the service, but it doesn't say
anything for today. Does anyone else is having problems with the
Datastore?
