Jim,
Thanks for replying. I guess the problem is only happening to us.
After updating the JAR, I did the following to our app:
- changed the XMLNS to "
http://schemas.android.com/apk/lib/
com.google.ads"
- I left the attrs.xml file there ( kinda sloppy...I'm a digital
hoarder.... )
The ads run fine and there are no problems showing and clicking on ads
(my boss actually had me e-mail our users to see if they are receiving
and viewing ads and if any users had clicked on an ad in the past 72
hours...I was embarrassed to do this). There are no reported problems
with showing / clicking / viewing ads.
Our impressions / requests are still being updated regularly, so I
don't believe the connection between our app and the server has
broken. For three days straight our average clicks of 26 per day has
gone to 0. The ads that are being displayed have not changed and they
are targeted extremely well, so the probability of getting 0 clicks
for two straight days is highly unlikely.
Another bit of information that might be useful in locating our issue
is that most of the ads displayed are not adMob ads. We have filtered
most of all categories to "off" because there simply aren't any ads in
the adMob categories that suit our app. We don't want to show ads for
Aunt Jemima because our users would have NO reason to view that ad. I
know this is not recommended by adMob, but they simply do not have any
advertisers that target our application's purpose. After filtering
most categories to "off" in the adMob application settings, we saw a
dramatic increase in our CTR, making the boss happy.
With that said, most of the ads that show are from AdSense and have
the AdChoices text displayed on the add.
So, the questions I have to get answered for the boss are:
- Since the app is still communicating with adMob and impression/
requests are still being reported, could we rule out any coding errors
that might be preventing the clicks from being tracked?
- As I said before, we used to see some clicks trickle in on the same
day, and by the end of the next day (around 48 hours later), we would
see the final numbers added to that days revenue/clicks. Could it be
that reporting from Adsense/AdChoices is being delayed longer than the
usual 48 hour period?
I'm patient, but my boss is not. Good thing he doesn't read these
forums. I'm not sure he'd appreciate me depicting him as the
demanding/impatient person that he is.
Regards,
Chris
