Since the language is till evolving at a rapid pace, it would be
unwise to invest time in writing a book about it, even if done
collaboratively.
About the collaboration itself, I sent out two sub-sections on this
list and hardly got any response, I guess its because people aren't
really interested in reviewing the content, but, only in discussing
what should go in and which tools to use to develop the book.

You know, as a general wisdom for life, it's not easy to make a group
of people do something you'd want them to do :)
Especially if you don't pay them for that and if they have to do
something else to earn their living. I'd advise you not to rely so
much on collaboration, but rather on your own efforts and commitment.
And/or to put more efforts and commitment in encouraging the community
to help.

Regarding the evolution of the language - that's quite clearly stated
everywhere in the docs, and on the mailing list as well, so that
shouldn't be so much of a surprise. And this surely makes the task of
writing a book more difficult, but on the other hand it can result in
a reward of being the first one, or among the first ones, who wrote a
book on the language.

Greetings, and good luck.

PS. For me personally, the topic of Go (etc.) internals is the most
interesting. But I also won't promise I will review anything. Sorry.
Maybe, maybe not. For me, that's one of my hobbies, with all the good
and bad consequences.

Greetz :)

It was never about money, and it was never about glory.
Honestly, it was so that I could've learned the language.
As one of my mentors had once said, "the best way to learn, is to teach".

Let the language stabilize and hopefully remain true to its original
goals of being a great systems language for programming servers, and
then I'll revisit the topic of writing a book, even if its by myself.

Thank you.

PS:
Going the way it is, I'm starting to believe that Go will end up like Java.

Ah, and regarding the response you've got - that's actually quite a
good response. It shows that this discussion group is still in the
phase where people are constructive. There are quite a lot mailing
groups on the Internet where you could get a random joke or a 300-post
long flame war on a completely different topic as a response :)

Just my not-completely-unrelated $0.02 worth of words :)

yeeah, enough small talk :)
see ya.
