where are sent emails?

i just checked my sent box and all 54,000 sent emails have disappeared. what is going on? how in the heck did this happen?

System glitch, perhaps?

What is in "All Mail"; is it empty too?

(And how did you know there were 54,000 of them? Does it say there were that many?)

The "Sent Mail" box isn't a separate folder. Gmail just does a search of "All Mail" for messages you sent. It does the search every time you click "Sent Mail", I believe. At Google, doing a search is more efficient than storing those messages in a separate database.

Also try logging off and back on, and/or clearing your computer's Cache and Cookies, because they are important to Gmail's proper functioning.

In the event that something or someone went to your Sent Mail and deleted everything, check your "Trash" too. Also, update your security information if you haven't done it in a while. But I'm putting my best bet on this being a temporary glitch.

This could be a number of things. I would immediately change password and activate 2-step verification. I would then install a good Anti Virus, I can recommend Bitdefender.

The next step would be to check your Trash folder.
