A MESSAGE OF THANKS FROM TROY DAVIS

First, thanks to all who jumped on the phone yesterday to help stop the execution of Duane Buck in Texas. The U.S. Supreme Court issued a stay late in the evening. Read More about that here.

See below for a special message of thanks from Troy Davis.

It was a tremendous day yesterday, with more than 650,000 signatures delivered on Troy's behalf. More about that is here, and here.

Today, Friday, Sept. 16 is the Global Day of Solidarity to help stop the execution of Troy Davis. In solidarity with the major march and vigil happening in Atlanta, more than 300 events are being held worldwide today and this weekend. NEW PETITION

A new petition for Troy has been created, asking the local District Attorney, Larry Chisolm, to withdraw the death warrant and to support clemency.  Together, we can persuade Mr. Chisolm to do what is right. We only have a few days left. Will you please sign this new petition and share it with your your friends?

A MESSAGE OF THANKS FROM TROY DAVIS

"I want to personally thank each and every one of you...

You lift my spirits every single day.

When I wake up and feel helpless,

I thank God there are people like you taking on My Cause.

I am asking you to do this for me on September 16th,

raise your voice LOUD because I cannot.

Raise your voice so VERY LOUD

that you are heard all the way here to Georgia.

I've done enough time for someone else's crime,

I'm ready to be a free man.

Raise your voice for me, for my freedom.

Thank you so very much and God Bless You."

-Troy Anthony Davis, September 14, 2011

Please know that NCADP is invested in this case because its the right thing to do, and also because so many of the aspects of this case speak to the same issues that are present in so many other cases which are not nearly as high-profile. Troy Davis is already a household name, and because our our collective action, over the coming weeks many more people will learn of the systemic failures of the death penalty, and join our movement.

Finally, it must be said that Troy Davis is not the only person scheduled to be executed in the coming weeks and months. NCADP lists every upcoming execution on the top right side of its web page, and you can click on each name to learn more and take action via our State Affiliate where the execution is scheduled.

Thank you.
