Some airports are "hot" on the trail of possible swine flu victims. And to get that way, they are using thermal imaging cameras as they take a peek at passengers passing through terminals.
The devices work like regular cameras, but instead of recording light reflected by objects, the devices are sensitive to heat. So if a person is running a fever, the cameras will be able to detect that up to 250 meters.
How accurate are they in determining a rise in body temperature?
Capt. Hani Alsohaibi, President of SOFAB Safety & Security Co. says thermal camera can measure temperature down to a fraction of a degree Fahrenheit.
Airports worldwide have been using them continuously since. SOFAB say there has been an increase in orders recently, with the swine flu scare in full swing.

Following the release of the 9/11 Commission Report in 2004, 66% of New Yorkers were in favor of another investigation to address the "still unanswered questions". Commission Chairman Thomas Kean would later come forward with the stunning assessment that the Commission was, in his words, Set up to fail. NYCCAN (NYC Coalition for Accountability Now) strives to deliver the 9/11 Families, ailing First Responders and New Yorkers what they deserve: an investigation that will succeed.
