I bought some eyelashes at a terrific costume store in my city. There
is a woman there who is always dressed up in wild outfits. She says
she used to be a Vegas showgirl. She is probably in her 70's now but I
can believe it. Anyway, she is in charge of wigs, and accessories
including eyelashes. She had a fact sheet on how to trim and apply the
lashes. She trimmed mine for me and told me to always use Duo adhesive
because the stuff they come with does not hold as well. I did a party
tonight where I had to apply about 7 pairs of eyelashes plus my own
beforehand (they invited me to stay for the party so I went in costume
too). I was not looking forward to doing the lashes on others because
I had not done them on anyone else for 12 years. I used Duo and after
the second pair I got the hang of just how much adhesive to put on and
how tacky it had to be for them to stick. Plus, I learned to press on
them and hold for about 5-10 seconds and they really stuck. Trimming
was also the key because they looked much better that way. I think
they make them way too big for the average eye. The lashes that I
applied, including mine, stayed on all night and made the guests look
really great. Some were wild colors or metallic. Mine had a feather
trailing off the end. Now that I feel comfortable applying them again,
I wouldn't hesitate to do it again but only using Duo. Oh yeah, I
guess I got off track here, sorry. I followed this sales woman's
directions and recommendation that you apply your makeup first and
then put the lashes on. After that on a few I did add a line glitter
that I adhered with Erika's eyeliner adhesive and cosmetic glitter. It
looked great.
