Wikithon 2011

Dear Freedom lovers,

Wish you all "Happy Software Freedom Day" on the eve of SFD 2011.

No doubt how Wikimedia projects especially Wikipedia has strengthen
the tangible aspects of Open Culture in the field of Content Sharing
and Content Creation .In the same context Wikimedia Foundation,
Nepal(proposed) is going to organize an event named "Wikithon" , with
following ideas:

#Popularize Nepali Wikipedia
#Get more contributors and Quantity Aspects of the articles
#Get Experts into it (like you FOSSians) for the Quality Aspects of the Articles
#Make Dashain, free time enjoyable and knowledge oriented

Proposed Date of the Event is from 28th September 2001 to the 5th of
October 2011. Participants can participate Online or Gather at a
Location in Kathmandu. Location yet to be decided looking forward for
anyone to provide venue . We have NRs 5000 for the winner, sure money
is not the key motivation to contribute ...

Nepal having low literacy rate @max 70% and population with workable
English is very less, Nepali content Development surely helps the ones
staying in the rural and underprivileged areas especially the young
minds.

We have been in touch with some FOSSians and really overwhelmed with
the support ,goodwill and creative ideas from their side ..
We have very less computer related and Technical articles in Nepali
Wikipedia even we don't have any articles about OSI and FSF.

With the success of this program we hope Wikimedia Foundation ,
Nepal(proposed) gets concrete foundation and hope this event also
paves way for the further development of FOSS movement and its
adoption.

We look forward for your suggestions and support .
